Mexico's Peso Now Overvalued by 5.8% Against USD
The Mexican peso has been found to be overvalued against the US dollar by 5.8% according to the MND Peso Index™ for September 2026.
This assessment is based on a comparison of prices for a standardized basket of 20 goods and services in Mexico and Dallas, Texas.
The peso's overvaluation increased from 2.4% in early August to 5.8% in early September due to the appreciation of the peso between August 6 and September 2, as well as an increase in the MND Peso Rate.
The gap between the Banxico FIX rate and the MND Peso Rate widened by 56 centavos over this period, indicating a stronger peso.
