Microsoft Slashes into European Xbox Console Prices
Microsoft has raised prices for its Xbox consoles across Europe and the UK, making them some of the most expensive gaming hardware in the region. The price hikes affect the flagship Xbox Series X as well as the Xbox Series S with both storage variants.
The revised pricing puts the Xbox Series X at €699.99 in much of Europe and £589.99 in the UK. The 512GB version of the Xbox Series S now costs €349.99, while the 1TB model is priced at €399.99 and £399.99.
Compared to the US market, European and UK consumers are paying significantly more for their consoles, even after accounting for value-added tax (VAT). Industry analysts attribute the price increases to rising manufacturing costs, inflation, fluctuating exchange rates, and increased logistics expenses.
The Xbox price hike coincides with Microsoft's shift towards building a broader gaming ecosystem that includes consoles, PCs, mobile devices, and cloud platforms. The company has invested heavily in services such as Xbox Game Pass and continues to release first-party titles.
