Mindanao Mango Farmers Eye New Zealand Market
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is pushing to connect Mindanao's mango farmers with high-value markets, specifically New Zealand. MinDA Secretary Leo A. Magno emphasized that market access must be matched by competitiveness, quality, compliance, reliable supply, and strong business linkages.
An orientation seminar was held on September 10 to discuss the requirements for accessing the New Zealand market. The initiative is part of MinDA's collaboration with the New Zealand Bioeconomy Science Institute (NZ-BSI) and its partners. The goal is to help Mindanao mango farmers meet New Zealand's export standards and expand the industry's access to international markets.
MinDA Deputy Executive Director ASec. Romeo M. Montenegro said that the orientation forms part of the Authority's sustained partnership with NZ-BSI and Plant & Food Research in pursuing the project, 'Supporting High-Quality Residue-Compliant Mango Exports from the Philippines.'
