Mixed US Futures Ahead of Crucial Jobs Report and Interest Rate Decision
US stock futures are mixed as investors await the crucial August jobs report, which could influence the US Federal Reserve's next decision on interest rates.
The Labor Department is expected to release data showing that American employers added a net 65,000 jobs last month after cutting 23,000 positions in July. The job market has been impacted by a shortage of workers due to President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown and the retirement of baby boomers, as well as businesses' increased use of technology to automate tasks.
In energy trading, US crude oil prices declined 0.9% to $90.49 a barrel, while Brent crude fell 0.7% to $94.84 a barrel. However, both benchmarks are up sharply this week, rising 8-9%.
