Morocco's Pharmaceutical Trade Deficit Set to Reach $1.4 Billion by 2030
According to a recent analysis by BMI, Morocco's pharmaceutical trade deficit is expected to reach MAD 13.4 billion ($1.4 billion) by 2030 due to rising imports outpacing exports.
The country's pharmaceutical exports remained relatively unchanged in 2025 at MAD 1.6 billion ($171 million), while imports grew significantly, increasing 17.4% year-on-year in local currency terms and 24.9% in US dollar terms to MAD 11.9 billion ($1.27 billion).
As a result of this growth, the pharmaceutical trade deficit widened from an initial forecast of MAD 9.2 billion ($984 million) to MAD 10.3 billion ($1.1 billion), and is expected to continue growing at a faster rate than exports in the coming years.
