Italian cyclist Gianni Moscon has been kicked out of the Vuelta a Burgos for 'improper conduct' and behavior that endangers others, according to the UCI race jury.

The Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider was slapped with a 1,000 Swiss franc fine, docked 50 UCI ranking points, shown a yellow card, and kicked out of the race under article 2.12.007.8.2.1 of the UCI regulations.

Moscon has a history of controversies in his career, including being suspended for six weeks in 2017 after using racially abusive language toward Kévin Reza at the Tour de Romandie and being banned from the Tour de France in 2018 after punching Élie Gesbert in stage 15.

The UCI race jury also cited Bahrain Victorious rider Mathijs Paasschens under the same rule, but he received a less severe punishment with a 500 Swiss franc fine, a 25-point deduction, and a yellow card. He remained in the race.
