National Bank of Canada Reports Strong Third-Quarter Results
National Bank of Canada reported its third-quarter results for 2026, showing a significant increase in net income and earnings per share compared to the same period last year. The bank's net income rose by 23% to $1.307 million, while diluted earnings per share increased by 26% to $3.25.
The strong performance was driven by growth across all business segments, as well as lower provisions for credit losses and the increased contribution from Canadian Western Bank (CWB), which National Bank acquired in 2025. Excluding specified items related to the acquisition and transactions with Laurentian Bank of Canada (LBC), adjusted net income stood at $1.362 million, up 23% from $1.104 million in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
For the nine-month period ended July 31, 2026, National Bank's net income totalled $3.795 million, a 28% increase from $2.958 million for the same period in 2025. Diluted earnings per share rose by 25% to $9.39.
