Nepal Seeks International Aid as Flood Relief Efforts Continue

Prime Minister Balen Shah held telephone talks with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon today. During their conversation, Shah briefed Luxon on Nepal's search and rescue efforts following the devastating flood in BhoteKoshi, Rasuwa. The Prime Minister also informed Luxon that the search for missing foreign nationals, including five New Zealand citizens, is being given high priority.

Shah expressed his gratitude to New Zealand for providing humanitarian assistance of 2 million New Zealand dollars and requested their constructive cooperation in international forums for financial assistance for loss and damage caused by climate-induced disasters. Luxon conveyed heartfelt condolences and solidarity from the government and people of New Zealand for Nepal's losses.
