New Zealand Bond Yield Spikes on Rising Oil Prices
New Zealand's 10-year government bond yield surged to its highest level since May 2024, reaching around 4.89% in early September.
The increase was driven by inflation concerns following a surge in oil prices, with Brent crude remaining above US$100 a barrel as Middle East tensions escalated.
This has raised inflation risks and expectations that central banks may keep monetary policy tighter for longer.
