New Zealand Consumer Confidence Hits Five-Month High
The New Zealand Consumer Confidence Index has reached its highest level in five months, according to the latest data from ANZ-Roy Morgan. The index increased by 8 points to 99.3 in July 2026, surpassing February's mark but remaining 19 points below its peak in January.
A key retail indicator, the share of households seeing it as a good time to buy a major household item, climbed 4 points to -7. However, two-year inflation expectations remained unchanged at 4.6%, while house price expectations dropped to 2.6% from 3.0%.
The mixed signals suggest that consumer confidence is still evolving in New Zealand. While the overall index rose, some households are becoming more cautious about buying major items and investing in property.
