NFP Data Release Set to Shake Markets Amid Interest Rate Hopes
The US labor market data release, known as NFP (Non-farm Payroll Employment Change), will be closely watched by investors today. Despite a quiet week in terms of macroeconomics, this report is expected to have a significant impact on the markets. The previous month's reading came in at 57k, while economists are predicting an increase to 85k.
The Federal Reserve takes into account both price stability and maximum employment when making decisions about interest rates. If the NFP data shows signs of cooling in the US labor market, it could lead to further dovish revisions regarding the expected interest rate path in the USA.
It's worth noting that economists have a tendency to underestimate the number of new jobs in non-farm sectors, with 35 out of the last 50 months showing better-than-expected readings. The 3-month moving average remains at a healthy level of 111k.
