Nigeria Takes Center Stage in Toronto to Boost Economic Ties with Canada
Nigeria is strengthening its trade relations with Canada, and a key event will be held in Toronto to showcase Nigerian culture, music, and economy. The Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, led the delegation to the Trade and Investment Summit in Toronto, which also featured the 18th edition of the African Music Awards.
The summit was an opportunity for Nigeria to expand its economic ties with Canada, which already has a significant Nigerian diaspora. According to the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada in Nigeria, Mr. Carlos Rojas-Abulu, there are around 120,000 Nigerians living in Canada and another 20,000 to 25,000 students studying in Canadian universities.
The minister emphasized that the event was not just about cultural celebration but also about economic expansion and creating a stronger Nigerian economy. She noted that every song, film, or creative enterprise that reaches an international audience contributes to the growth of the Nigerian economy.
