Nikkei 225 Falls for Third Straight Session Amid Oil Price Concerns
The Japan Stock Market experienced its third consecutive session of losses on Thursday, September 10, with the Nikkei 225 dropping by around 1% to below 64,600. The broader Topix Index also declined by 0.65% to around 4,020.
The market remained under pressure due to higher oil prices, which raised concerns about inflation and strengthened expectations that the Bank of Japan could raise interest rates in the near term. Investors were also reacting to weakness on Wall Street and a rise in US Treasury yields.
Several major technology and consumer companies recorded losses during the session, including Fujikura (-4.4%), Furukawa Electric (-4.9%), Ibiden (-3.1%), Nintendo (-3.8%), Fast Retailing (-1.5%), and Tokyo Electron (-2.35%).
