No More Double Labels: Bulgaria Ditches Price Dual-Currency Display
From tomorrow, August 9, Bulgaria will abandon its double-labeling policy for prices. Shops and service providers will only display amounts in euros, marking a significant step towards adopting the European currency. The Ministry of Economy and Industry announced that businesses have successfully reconfigured their fiscal systems and sales management software to accommodate the change.
The Consumer Protection Commission has started conducting massive inspections across the country to monitor for incorrect rounding of prices or attempts to artificially increase prices of essential goods. Consumers can report any violations through a hotline or an official portal set up for the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria.
