Nvidia's Strong Beat Lifts Tech Sentiment Amid Fed Hawkishness
The US stock market saw modest gains for the week as strong corporate earnings offset a hawkish tone from the Federal Reserve. The S&P 500 Index rose 0.49%, while the Nasdaq Composite Index gained 0.85% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.53%. Nvidia's strong earnings beat lifted tech sentiment, but new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh warned that inflation remains 'too high' and further rate increases may be necessary.
Nvidia reported a record print with Q2 FY2027 revenue of $96.2 billion (+106% YoY) and guided Q3 revenue to about $108.0 billion. The stock's path was volatile into and after the print as traders shifted from 'beat or miss' to margin quality, customer financing, and valuation digestion.
WiseTech Global, on the other hand, fell 4.1% despite delivering a blockbuster 79% revenue surge to US$1,395.9 million in its FY26 results. The company guided FY27 revenue growth of 6-10% with EBITDA margin expansion to 49-51%, but margin compression outweighed the growth story.
