New York City has launched a targeted campaign to boost Canadian tourism in light of recent trade tensions and a weakened Canadian dollar. The 'Northern Neighbour Deal' offers Canadians 30% off at over 85 participating hotels, Broadway shows, attractions, restaurants, and museums for travel between Aug. 18 and Sept. 7.

The deal is explicitly framed as a currency offset, aiming to close the gap in exchange rates that currently sees Canadians paying around 29% more on USD-priced goods. At current exchange rates, a $300 USD hotel room costs approximately CAD $420, but with the discount it drops to about CAD $295.

The participating hotels include over 40 properties across the five boroughs, while Broadway shows confirmed in the program include Aladdin and The Book of Mormon. Attractions discounts cover a wide range of venues, including the Empire State Building Observation Deck and New York Yankees games.
