NZ Economy Experiences North-South Divide Amidst Provincial Boom
New Zealand's economy may be in a funk, but some parts of the country are booming. According to Shamubeel Eaqub, who analyzed 15 economic indicators for every district, the recovery is firing in certain areas.
The north-south divide is evident, with mainly good news coming from the provinces. Canterbury, Otago, and Southland are leading the charge, while West Coast is experiencing growth due to farming and mining activities.
However, not all parts of New Zealand are benefiting from this economic boom. Northland and Wellington are struggling, with closures and a lack of economic activity contributing to their woes.
The fastest-growing districts are those that rely heavily on farming, forestry, fishing, and mining. High prices for beef and lamb, dairy, and wool are all helping to drive growth in these areas.
