NZ Forecasts Record 3.9 Million Visitor Arrivals by 2027

Tourism New Zealand is forecasting international visitor arrivals to reach 3.9 million and international visitor spend to grow to AUD14.4 billion by June 2027, according to recent data from the International Visitor Survey (IVS) for the year to June 2026.

The survey shows that tourism remains one of New Zealand's most important export industries, with international visitor spend supporting businesses, jobs, and communities across the country. Chief Executive René de Monchy says the results highlight the role tourism plays in strengthening New Zealand's economy.

International visitor spend has been particularly strong from New Zealand's top three visitor markets: Australia up 25% year-on-year to AUD4.4 billion, the United States up 20% year-on-year to AUD2.2 billion, and China growing 26% year-on-year to AUD1.5 billion.

Tourism New Zealand will focus on growing tourism value to AUD14.4 billion this fiscal year, using three themes: food and beverage, active escapes, and wellness to connect potential visitors with experiences across the regions.
