NZ Inflation Expectations Cool Down to 2.34% by Q3 2026
New Zealand's two-year inflation expectations have eased to 2.34% in Q3 2026, down from 2.53% in Q2, according to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's (RBNZ) latest monetary conditions survey.
The decrease in inflation expectations is seen as a key indicator that RBNZ policy action will filter through to prices over time. The market has reacted negatively to this development, with the New Zealand Dollar (NZD) trading 0.37% lower against the US dollar at around 0.58357.
The one-year forward inflation projections arrived at 2.6%, indicating a slight increase in short-term inflation expectations.
