NZ Stock Market Tumbles Amid Rising Oil Prices
New Zealand's S&P/NZX 50 index plummeted 0.8% to 13,711.01 points as rising oil prices fueled concerns about inflation ahead of crucial US economic data releases.
The majority of stocks on the NZX 50 declined, with only four showing gains and three remaining unchanged. Companies set to shed dividend payments suffered significant losses, including Sky Network Television and Spark New Zealand, which dropped 6.2% and 3.7%, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bremworth's independent directors resigned, paving the way for David Ferrier's partial takeover bid, while General Capital jumped 9.4% after its finance unit reported a profit in the June quarter.
