NZ Tech Sector Soars Amid Fossil Fuel Shift
New Zealand's top tech companies are poised for another year of double-digit global growth, according to the Technology Investment Network's (TIN) annual report. The TIN200, which tracks the country's largest globally focused technology companies, indicates continued export momentum across various sectors.
The global economy's shift away from fossil fuels is driving this trend, with TIN managing director Greg Shanahan saying it 'creates a significant opportunity for globally ambitious New Zealand technology companies to step forward, lead in emerging sectors, and strengthen their position in global markets.'
The report shows that the top 200 tech companies increased revenues by NZ$1.8 billion or 10 percent in 2025 over 2024. Larger companies saw notable growth, with the ten highest revenue growth companies seeing combined revenues in 2025 up $1.4b, more than triple the $400 million growth recorded by the top ten growth companies a decade earlier (2015).
The growing maturity of New Zealand's technology sector is seen as an important development for the wider economy. BNZ technology industries development manager Josh Starkey said this trend 'reinforces the importance of technology industries to the New Zealand economy.'
