NZD Falls Ahead of Jackson Hole Speech
The New Zealand dollar has been impacted by concerns over the upcoming speech at Jackson Hole on Friday, which may influence the Fed's decision this autumn. The NZD/USD pair has fallen significantly as traders assess a market that could be overexposed and overextended, with the 0.60 level posing potential resistance.
The dollar is driving the movement in the session on Wednesday, responding to the Kevin Warsh speech scheduled for Friday. Although the core PCE was in line with expectations, the recent FOMC meeting minutes highlighted concerns about persistent inflation among voting members.
The New Zealand dollar has also reacted to weaker-than-expected retail sales, suggesting softer consumer demand may be a problem in New Zealand, despite expected interest rate hikes. The interest rate differential is still favoring the United States.
