NZD Holds Steady Amid Safe-Haven USD Demand
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has remained relatively stable against the US Dollar (USD), trading just below 0.5900 within a narrow range held for over a week.
This stability is due in part to safe-haven demand for the USD, which has been supported by geopolitical risks, inflation concerns, and prospects of at least one Federal Reserve rate hike in 2026.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand's (RBNZ) hawkish stance and market pricing for nearly 100 bps of tightening over the next twelve months continue to underpin the NZD.
