NZD/IDR Traders Hold Breath as Pair Consolidates Near Critical Support
The New Zealand Dollar versus Indonesian Rupiah (NZD/IDR) pair is trading flat at Rp10,247 after a modest decline for the day. According to Traders Union, this reflects a current price below its main short- and medium-term moving averages but above the key long-term average.
The recent economic developments in Indonesia have contributed to a firmer backdrop for the Rupiah. Indonesian consumer confidence increased in August, supporting a more robust outlook for domestic spending and the local currency. Additionally, Indonesia's forex reserves rose to USD 146.5 billion, covering 5.4 months of imports and contributing to currency stability.
The NZD/IDR is experiencing persistent short-term bearish momentum despite an intact longer-term uptrend. The current technical and macroeconomic backdrop strengthens this view, with sideways consolidation likely before any decisive break. As a result, the key level to monitor for renewed downside risk is Rp10,196.
