NZD Slides as Safe-Haven Demand Lifts USD Amid Middle East Tensions
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has slipped to around 0.5880 against the US Dollar (USD), down 0.10% on Thursday at the time of writing.
This decline comes as investors seek safe-haven assets amid fresh geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, following an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon.
The USD is benefiting from this defensive positioning despite mixed US economic data, with Initial Jobless Claims edging up to 199K last week from a revised 198K previously, and weaker ADP employment report on Wednesday.
Markets are now turning their attention to Friday's Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report for a clearer assessment of US labor market conditions.
