NZD Struggling to Break Above 0.6000 Amid Priced-In Hike
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has been stuck in a rut lately, barely changing from its position near 0.5900 on Monday. This comes after four consecutive lower highs since the late-August peak at just short of 0.6000.
While the market is expecting a quarter-point hike from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) this week, the decision itself has little impact on the currency's value due to its already priced-in nature.
The main event will be the tone of the RBNZ's statement and whether it signals further rate increases by year-end. Two local previews diverge in their expectations, with one predicting two more hikes this year and the other seeing a pause to assess instead.
