NZD/USD Consolidates Near June High Amid Diverging Forces
The NZD/USD currency pair has started the week on a subdued note due to diverging forces. New Zealand's disappointing Retail Sales data has capped the NZD, while a weak USD is providing support to the pair.
From a technical perspective, Friday's breakout above the 0.5900 mark was seen as a fresh trigger for NZD/USD bulls. The spot prices hold well above the 200-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) at 0.5845, which underpins the recent advance and keeps a bullish near-term tone.
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is near 69, suggesting strong but increasingly stretched upside momentum that could slow the pace of gains rather than immediately reverse them. However, as long as NZD/USD stays above the 200-period SMA, the bias would favor further consolidation with a mild topside skew.
