NZD/USD Gains Momentum as US Treasury Buybacks Boost Demand
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) is gaining strength against the US Dollar (USD), thanks to the recent announcement by the US Treasury to double buybacks of longer-dated government debt. This move has increased demand for these securities, leading to lower Treasury yields and reduced appeal of the USD.
As a result, investors are shifting their attention towards the NZD, which is also supported by ongoing expectations for additional interest rate hikes by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). The NZD/USD pair is currently trading at $0.5981, with a daily rise of 0.62%, and is expected to fluctuate within a range of $0.5946 to $0.6006 over the next 2-3 days.
Technical indicators are also showing bullish signals, with the pair above its key moving averages, including the hourly MA-20 ($0.5955) and MA-50 ($0.5939). However, oscillators such as RSI at 70.66 reflect overbought conditions, indicating a potential correction in the near future.
