NZD/USD Tumbles on Soft US Data, But Hawkish RBNZ Supports Kiwi Dollar
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) vs US Dollar (USD) exchange rate is trading at $0.5874, down from yesterday's price.
This modest decline comes as softer-than-expected US inflation and consumer spending data have reduced expectations for a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike, which would typically boost the strength of the US dollar.
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand, however, maintains a hawkish policy outlook, raising market expectations for additional interest rate hikes in New Zealand. This divergence between monetary policies supports the NZD's yield advantage over the USD.
Bearish momentum remains strong, with technical indicators pointing to further downside pressure in the coming days. The pair is expected to trade within a range of $0.5843 to $0.5901 over the next 2-3 trading days.
