NZX Names Hishaam Mirza as New Chief Executive
The NZX has appointed Hishaam Mirza as its new chief executive. He will take over on September 14, following a global search to find the right candidate.
Mirza comes from a 14-year tenure at NZ Super, where he headed direct investments and managed a team of high-performing investment professionals.
NZX chair John McMahon said Mirza was a standout candidate due to his experience in financial services. He noted that NZX had been struggling to grow the number of listed companies over the past decade.
Mirza expressed enthusiasm for the new role, stating 'NZX is a highly trusted and well-run market at the heart of New Zealand's economy.' He aims to increase scale, liquidity, and global relevance for the exchange.
Graham Law will continue to act as chief executive until Mirza takes over on September 14.
