Oil Prices Sink USD/CAD Pair Amid Ongoing US-Iran Negotiations
The USD/CAD pair has fallen to near 1.4113 despite declining oil prices. The Canadian Dollar (CAD) is outperforming its major currency peers, but this strength is expected to be temporary.
Oil prices have dropped further due to ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran over the peace agreement. WTI Oil has posted a fresh weekly low, trading 2.2% lower to near $79.40.
The Canadian economy relies heavily on oil exports, so a decline in oil prices tends to weaken the CAD. Meanwhile, the US Dollar is trading flat ahead of the Federal Reserve's (Fed) monetary policy announcement on Wednesday.
