The global economy is experiencing a sharp jump in interest rates, driven by rising oil prices and inflation risks. In the US, producer prices rose by +5.4% from a year ago, while US fuel prices have risen sharply, with diesel averaging US$6/bbl and petrol at US$4.27/gal.

The European Central Bank has raised its policy rate by +25 bps to 2.65%, citing elevated inflation expectations. Meanwhile, the Australian government's inflation expectations remain high at 4.9%, far above the July CPI rate of 3.5%.

The US Treasury 10-year yield has jumped to 4.96%, while gold prices have fallen, with the price per ounce now at US$4337. Bitcoin has also declined in value, down -2.1% from yesterday's closing price.
