OMERS Returns 4.8% in First Half of 2026
OMERS, Ontario's Municipal Employees Retirement System, reported a net return of 4.8% in the first half of 2026, driven by strong US dollar and stock market performance.
The pension plan generated $6.9 billion in returns over the six-month period, with all asset classes contributing positively to its overall result.
'We had a pleasing start to 2026,' said OMERS President and CEO Blake Hutcheson. 'While an increasingly complex global dynamic created challenges for investors worldwide, we generated almost $7 billion in returns.'
The pension plan invested $1 billion into Canadian equities in the first half of 2026 and plans to add at least $10 billion of investments in Canada over the next five years.
