Omers Sees Strong Start to 2026 on Stocks and Dollar
The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (Omers) reported a return of 4.8% in the first half of 2026, resulting in a gain of C$6.9 billion ($5 billion).
This performance was driven by the strong US dollar and rising stock market.
According to Chief Executive Officer Blake Hutcheson, Omers had 'a pleasing start to 2026' despite an increasingly complex global dynamic.
Hutcheson's statement reflects the challenges faced by investors in the current market environment.
