Oracle's first-quarter earnings will be closely watched this week as it reports its results on Thursday, September 10. Analysts expect a 18.5% rise in fiscal first-quarter 2027 earnings to $1.74 a share, with revenue forecast to increase by 28.3% to $19.1bn.

The options market implies a potential 9.5% move following the results, with significant interest around $140. Technical analysts see resistance near $200, and a breakout above the upper end of the range could open the way towards $180.

The European Central Bank's (ECB) interest-rate decision on Thursday will also be closely watched, with markets pricing in an almost 100% chance of a rate hike at this week's meeting. However, the ECB is not expected to raise rates again until perhaps spring 2027.

Meanwhile, the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for August will provide key inflation data that could influence the Federal Reserve's decision on interest rates later this month. Analysts expect a 0.4% rise in headline CPI, while core CPI is forecast to increase by 0.2%.
