Oracle Earnings to Set Stage for AI Computing Demand
Oracle's upcoming earnings report and European Central Bank rate decision are set to dominate the financial markets this week.
The company is expected to release its fiscal first-quarter 2027 results on Thursday, September 10, with analysts predicting a rise in revenue by 28.3% to $19.1 billion and an increase in earnings per share by 18.5% to $1.74.
However, the real story is Oracle's massive investment in expanding its data centre capacity, which is expected to more than double capital expenditure to $19.3 billion from last year's $8.5 billion.
The market will be looking for evidence that demand for AI computing can justify this significant investment, as expectations for the second quarter suggest revenue growth of 32.1% and a further increase in capital expenditure by 85%.
