Oregon Nonfarm Payroll Employment Drops 4,100 in July

Oregon's nonfarm payroll employment declined by 4,100 jobs in July, according to the Oregon Employment Department. This follows a revised gain of 1,300 jobs in June.

The largest losses were seen in professional and business services, with a decline of 1,800 jobs; leisure and hospitality, which lost 900 jobs; and government, which shed 700 jobs.

On the other hand, retail trade added 500 jobs in July. However, this follows a consistent long-term trend of job declines during the past four years.
