Oyo Police Crack Down on Counterfeit Currency Ring
Police in Oyo State, Nigeria have arrested six individuals suspected of dealing in counterfeit Euro currency. The operation began on September 1 when police intercepted three men traveling on a motorcycle.
The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, Oni Oladapo, Adebayo Saheed, and Hammed Karemu, who was the motorcycle rider. They were found to be in possession of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes with a total face value of €8,900.
The investigation led to the recovery of exhibits suspected to have been used in the production of the counterfeit notes and the arrest of an alleged producer, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to six. The suspects are currently in police custody and cooperating with the investigation.
