Oyo Police Nab Six Men Over Counterfeit Euro Currency
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six men in connection with the production and circulation of counterfeit Euro currency. On September 1, operatives on township patrol intercepted three men traveling on a motorcycle around Labo-Wesley area at about 7:30 p.m.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes with a total face value of €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, Oni Oladapo, Adebayo Saheed, and Hammed Karemu.
The police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, stated that the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and led operatives to the location where the suspected counterfeit currency was purchased. A forensic sweep of the premises resulted in the recovery of exhibits suspected to have been used in the production of the counterfeit notes.
