Oyo Police Nab Six Over €8,900 Counterfeit Euro Currency
The Oyo State Police Command has made a significant arrest in connection with counterfeit Euro currency. On September 1, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., police operatives on township patrol intercepted three men traveling on a motorcycle in the Labo-Wesley area of Ibadan.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes valued at €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, 50, Oni Oladapo, 67, Adebayo Saheed, 52, and Hammed Karemu, 25.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the suspects allegedly confessed to the crime and led police operatives to the location where the suspected counterfeit currency was allegedly purchased. The investigation is ongoing, with all six suspects currently in police custody and cooperating with investigators.
