Oyo Police Nab Six Over Fake Euro Currency Racket

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six individuals in connection with the production and possession of counterfeit €8,900 worth of Euro currency.

The incident occurred on September 1 around 7:30pm when police on patrol stopped three men on a motorcycle in the Labo, Wesley area of Ibadan. Upon searching their belongings, officers recovered 89 pieces of suspected fake €100 notes.

The arrested individuals are Tijani Saheed, 50; Oni Oladapo, 67; Adebayo Saheed, 52; and motorcycle rider Hammed Karemu, 25. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and led police to the location where they allegedly purchased the fake currency.

A search of this location revealed additional evidence related to the production of the counterfeit notes, leading to the arrest of two more individuals. All six suspects are currently in custody and cooperating with authorities.
