Pakistani Rupee Weakens Against Major Currencies
The Pakistani rupee continues to weaken against major currencies, with the US dollar nearing Rs279 in the open market. According to updated rates on September 12, 2026, the dollar was quoted at Rs278.05 for buying and Rs278.55 for selling. This is a significant drop from previous rates.
The British pound also saw a decrease, available at Rs375.75 for buying and Rs378.70 for selling. The euro traded at Rs322.48 for buying and Rs325.46 for selling. Other major currencies like the Saudi riyal, UAE dirham, Chinese yuan, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, Japanese yen, Swiss franc, Singapore dollar also saw fluctuations in their exchange rates.
In contrast, the interbank market rates show a slightly different picture. The US dollar was quoted at Rs277.25 for buying and Rs277.75 for selling, while the euro was available at Rs321.67 for buying and Rs322.25 for selling. These rates are also lower than previous ones.
