Pepperstone Taps Tech Veteran as Crypto Expansion Continues
Melbourne-based Pepperstone has made a significant move in its expansion into the crypto space by appointing Nigel Fernandes as its Chief Technology Officer, effective October 1st, 2026. This appointment comes on the heels of the company's launch of its dedicated crypto exchange in February 2026, which initially offered Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, USDC and USDT against the Australian dollar.
Fernandes brings over 20 years of technology leadership experience from his previous roles at Xero, Publicis Sapient, Coles Group, SEEK, and Envato. He will oversee the broker's global technology operations, including engineering, architecture, security, and data functions that support Pepperstone's broader business.
The company is looking to invest in its own technology and develop an AI-native engineering foundation, which will enable faster and more reliable access to trading tools. This move aligns with Pepperstone's strategy of expanding into crypto, artificial intelligence, and institutional-grade infrastructure.
