Peso Rebounds with Yen Surge
The Philippine peso has made a significant rebound against the US dollar, closing at P62.513 on Wednesday after reaching an all-time low of P62.625 the previous day.
This move comes as the Japanese yen continues to surge, with some speculating that it could reach seven-month highs due to expectations for faster Bank of Japan tightening and a stronger yen.
According to Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. Chief Economist Michael L. Ricafort, the peso's rise was driven by the yen's resurgence, which is leading regional currencies against the dollar.
The peso traded within a narrow range throughout the day, ranging from P62.50 to P62.55, before closing stronger at P62.513.
