Peso Weakens Against Dollar, Boosting Remittance Payments for Filipinos

The USD to PHP exchange rate has fluctuated in recent weeks, benefiting Filipino families who receive remittances from their loved ones working abroad. According to Asia United Bank's latest rates as of August 27, 2026, one US dollar is equivalent to Php 61.50 for buying and Php 61.70 for selling.

This means that Filipinos in the United States can send more money home due to the Philippine peso weakening against the US dollar. However, many OFWs are not happy about the high prices of goods and commodities in the country, which offset the extra amount they receive from the exchange rate.

The current exchange rate is a welcome relief for families who rely on remittances to make ends meet. Medical professionals working abroad often earn more than their counterparts in the Philippines due to the favorable USD to PHP conversion.
