Philadelphia Fed Names Skander Van den Heuvel Director of Research
Skander Van den Heuvel has been named executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, effective November 1. He currently serves as senior associate director of the Division of Financial Stability at the Federal Reserve Board.
Van den Heuvel brings over a decade of experience to the role, having worked on various teams across Research and Statistics, Financial Stability, and Supervision and Regulation since joining the Fed in 2008. His research focuses on banking regulation, capital and liquidity requirements, interest rate risk, monetary policy transmission, and financial stability.
As director of research at the Philadelphia Fed, Van den Heuvel will lead the Research and Financial Statistics departments and the Consumer Finance Institute, providing counsel on economic outlook and monetary policymaking. He will also serve as chief economic advisor to President Anna Paulson and attend meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee.
