Poilievre Backs Canadian Trade Deal, Cites Leverage in Energy Reserves
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says Canada is 'better off with a deal than without a deal' when it comes to trade negotiations with the United States. He made this statement in response to a question about whether Canada can trust US President Donald Trump to honour a trade deal.
In his view, the fact that there is already an original deal negotiated by Brian Mulroney provides protection from tariffs on a large part of Canada's economy. Poilievre also proposed using a strategic energy and mineral reserve as long-term leverage.
