Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has expressed concerns about Canada's economy being targeted by the US, calling it 'wounded' and 'confused'. Speaking on CNBC, Poilievre stated that both countries have a deeply interconnected economic relationship that has delivered peace and prosperity for decades. He emphasized that tariff-free trade is the only way forward.

Poilievre attributed Canada's current situation to US policies that have prevented Canadian businesses from selling into subnational procurement markets and imposed tariffs on softwood lumber. However, he urged both countries to work together to resolve their grievances for mutual benefit.

In a statement, Poilievre said he was in New York to fight against tariffs and promote jobs on both sides of the border. He also mentioned that he would be meeting with investors and business leaders, but his main audience is the American people. Poilievre emphasized the importance of rebuilding the Western alliance to combat emerging rivals and risks.
