Polygon has joined forces with the Bank of England to explore the potential of stablecoins in conjunction with the digital pound for cross-border payments. The Digital Pound Lab, where Polygon is participating alongside NOBO Finance and Dun & Bradstreet, aims to test how digital currencies can facilitate smoother transactions between different forms of money. As part of this experiment, Polygon will provide the smart contract infrastructure for the settlement side of stablecoins.

The project's primary focus lies in streamlining cross-border payments by reducing costs and delays associated with traditional methods. The Bank of England has established a simulated test system for its digital pound, while Polygon will handle the stablecoin aspect using its smart contract infrastructure. This collaboration is purely experimental, utilizing test infrastructure and not involving real customers or funds.
