Port of Nanaimo Boasts CA$2.4 Billion in Economic Output
The Port of Nanaimo has solidified its position as a significant economic driver for Canada after an independent study found it generated CA$2.4 billion in economic output in 2025.
The assessment, conducted by Deetken Insight and based on Statistics Canada data and economic modeling, evaluated the port's impact on the local economy.
The findings showed that port-connected activities supported 8,073 jobs, generated CA$1.1 billion in GDP, contributed CA$557 million in wages, and produced approximately CA$115 million in tax revenues for federal, provincial, and municipal governments.
The study revealed significant growth since the previous assessment in 2014, with total economic output and GDP increasing by approximately 50 percent after adjusting for inflation.
